Hi Joan,
I wanted to acknowledge your responses, and let you know that I will be
working on this problem of mine again tomorrow afternoon (in between work
stuff!). I want to make sure I understand your questions:
When you asked if the BIOS and Control panel see it, are you referring to
the HD? What specifically in the Control Panel are you referring to?
I hadn't thought to check with a Linux/Ubuntu CD/DVD, and will try that
tomorrow, too.
I'll post back with more when I have more info.
Thanks again,
Ellen

Did the computer's BIOS see it? Does the Control Panel see it? For testing,
I use Puppy Linux, Lubuntu or an Ubuntu-based CD/DVD Live CD to use their
drive tool to show disk health. Sometimes Linux can use a drive that Windows
can't, it might be where the bad sectors or other defects are located on its
platters.

Hi Joan,
Thanks for respinding. Yes, I unzipped and the BootCD disc worked properly
when I booted from it. It's that the Hard Drive tests did not run, and
Seatools could not find a drive.
