RE: [Simply Computers] How Best to Test Seagate ST31500341AS

Perhaps because it's a Dell, you may need to run the Hiren's CD in Safe Mode, instead of as a Live CD. Many of the Tools can be run that way...

Hi all,

I have an update. I e-mailed Hiren's website to find out what the original

error message I got when I tried to run HDAT2 meant (the error message said

"Load error: no DPMI get csdpmi*b.zip). I just got a reply with two attached

files, and instructions to replace the attached files in the HBCD\DOS

folder.

I have tried copying the files to the folder on the disc several times. Once

when I tried I got a message that the files could not be copied because the

disk is write protected. Other times when I copied and pasted the files

using Windows Explorer, it looked like the files were being copied. However,

when I looked at the contents of the HBCFD\DOS folder on the disc, the two

files that I copied still have the same "date modified" as all of the other

files, so I'm not sure the files were copied after all.

So that you don't have to read all of the other e-mails-the disc I am

copying to was an .iso disc, which I burned properly. It does boot from the

disc, but I can't run the HDAT2 program.

What am I doing incorrectly? How can I copy these files to the disc?

Thanks,

Ellen
