Ellen,

I'm re-reading your original message, and you said something about an Outlook diagnostic tool.

I have not heard of such a thing (perhaps others here have?) and am curious as to whether it's legit, or not.

Also, you said the computer was two years old, but that Dell won't honor the hard drive warranty.

According to the Seagate site, Seagate warranties hard drives to the OEM (Dell in this case) for three years, with some exceptions.

Were you perhaps wrong about the date of purchase?

Seagate does state that it will not RMA "end-user's" (you) hard drives directly, the user has to return it to Dell.

But if the computer is less than three years old, Dell should warranty the hard drive for you. You may have to contact them and remind them.

If a tech support person can't help you, ask to speak to a Supervisor.
