  I read through the webpage of the link that Vincent sent, and I thought: "This is NUTS!"
  
  If I may ask, why are you trying to use a DOS version of HDAT2 in the first place.
  
  The drive is in warranty, right? Just have the manufacturer replace it.
  
  I don't understand why you're trying to save it ("beating a dead horse" comes to mind)
  
  Are there files you need to recover from it?
  
  You could have RMA'd and received a new one in the time you've spent messing with this one.
  
  Of course, your time is your to do with what you wish, but even if you can revive the drive, how long do you think it will last?
  
  Can you trust it?
