Ok, I won't argue with that.  I haven't met a 120V input, 220V output VFD yet.  I was only considering a motor swap, or restoring the phase-a-matic and limping the original motor along on the generator as his options.


If VFDs that will work from his wall power are available that cheaply, then definitely, a VFD is way better than a 120V motor swap.
