I also vote for a new VFD and keep the motor, of course it is not my pocket book. But it is fun to spend other peoples money. My wife seems to enjoy doing that.

First you may want to take the motor to some place that has 3 phase and make sure it is good.

Probably, even with calculating your time at minimal wage rates, it will be cheaper to get a new VFD, than tinkering with that very arguable device that would run the motor at most at 2/3 of the rated power and injects a lot of bad stuff in the electric plan of your home.
