RE: [SOUTHBENDLATHE] RE: How do you Test a 3-Phase Converter?

Does the motor hum at all?

Can you measure voltage at the motor?

Are there any fused internally in the Converter?

Jim B.

Thanks Jim. When I initially attached the wires, I connected all three (Red, Black and White) to the terminals in the phase-converter box. I attached like to like by color.

When it didn't work, I looked more closely at the wiring diagram and went online, downloading the converter manufacturers instruction manual. The converter came with the lathe, I didn't purchase it New. I made the correct connections, as in disconnecting the white neutral wire, after reading the manufacturers manual, but no luck so far.
