Re: [7x12MiniLathe] Test Message

The index key for topics is usually the subject line in most browsers.  It is really considered a benefit that this happens.  (And this is probably in your browser, not in the group software).  The alternative is to eliminate the thread concept and have the end user (you and I) sort them manually (which I have been driven to so I can find stuff....)

Consider a discussion on a manual lathe operation and someone wants to discuss the CAM version and setup.  Each thread can go its separate way.  Each reader can stay in the lane of his interest.

Also, if you look back at topics on this group, we always seem to start with a turning issue, drift through a carbide versus HSS discussion and slide past sharpening HSS and seem to end up with tailstock alignment followed by a sound thumping of the 7x as a whole.

Had the subject line been edited, each topic would be available as a separate read (or not read as the case may be) and would certainly be easier to find mixed in with all the posts with the subject 'tailstock alignment'.

One man's feature is certainly another man's bug, but look at what it can do as well as what it cant.  All cuts can't be made with a parting tool.....

Share your frustration,
Warren L

Hmmm, well it looks to me that changing the subject line did in fact start a new topic. I was told that doing this does not start a new topic, but at least to me it appears that it does.

Ignore this message.
This is just a test message to confirm that changing the subject line in MS Outlook does not start a new Topic.
No need to reply to this message.
Apologies for sending an off topic message, but testing is the only way to confirm this.

Much of what you all are taking about is done by the software on your own computer.  So little details like selecting text then clicking "reply", if that works or not depends on what software you are using.
An Apple iPad running IOS-12 is much different from a Windows PC.  And even on the PC are you using Chrome or some other browser?

But on every platform there is some way to do what you want.   That should be to include only as much of the previous text as is needed.   In this case I  am responding in general, not to a specific comment so I deleted all but the title.
