I'll repost my last message from yahoo here:
I think the gear is not removable. It should have a smaller OD than
the ID of the bushing, if so, the whole thing comes out the front of
the machine with the bushing. If not, the handle comes off instead,
and the screw comes out the back. There may be a damn-near invisible
pin through the side of the central ball of the handle holding it on.
It is a taper pin, so make sure you are driving the small end, not the
large one. Good luck getting it out.
Also, I'd like to note that the 9 Jr does not have power cross feed,
so you probably have a SCG (standard change gear) lathe, instead of a
Jr.
