Cutting some external threads. Short piece and the only way I could set up to get the cutting tool in position (to avoid hitting the chuck jaws) was to mount between two centers. So, how to test fit?
Can I pull the tailstock back to test fit, then put tailstock back in position and cut some more? Do I have to make sure the work piece is in the same relative position to the faceplate? Or, other technique? Or, is it a "no can do"?
