Thank you guys...

The Model Num is 22-163. No english suport from RS.

Yeah, its a lot 'o current to draw overnight.

I was thinking of grabing an old 3v wall wart to power this thing; its paid for and why knot? But if I do that, why not just use the HP 400D ???? ??

Anyways, I hate tossing stuff if it can be fixed. I guess i'll buy a Fluke or grab a Simpson 260.

 Funny.

I thought about that... but I still had to say WHY I was making essentially blank post.

Now this is the REAL test. Replying from my web browser. Let me cross my fingers.

Jong, it's like writing a big fat sign "DON'T PRESS THIS RED BUTTON". ;-)

There's no garbage, unless you mean the normal group footer with
 various instructions.

Just in case you opened this email anyway. I'm trying to figure out why I get those garbage at the end of my posts.

Re: [Amateur-repairs] Precision test equipment
Put an amp meter inline with the batts to see what current is being drawn
off while your not using it.

Must be quite a draw to deaden them overnight.

Sounds like you have a bad part in the meter somewhere.

 What meter is it?

Re: [Amateur-repairs] Precision test equipment
batteries?
if it has a soft switch, then check the switching electronics....usually
it's a resistor that needs to be changed in value, a leaky transistor can
do it too.
If it's not a soft switch, then see if there is an electrolytic cap across
the battery connections-if so, it may be leaky.
Check for this, even if it IS using a soft switch-some of them do this too.
Another thought:how clean is the PC board.....flux and other junk on the
board, mixed with moisture could cause the same problem.

Hello, this is my second post ever to this group. The first never made it through. There is a message at the top "Your message must be approved by the group owner before being sent to the group". Is there any such group owner / moderator? How do I get my message through?

 Thanks.
