Andy, I got a message this afternoon from the Moderators group they'd fixed a server about 2am this morning, and expected it to solve the delayed message problem.

That explains it, Jerry; thanks.
 
I suppose "a misconfiguration in one of our sets of MTA servers" really means "we messed things up when reconfiguring one of our sets of MTA servers". But what the heck; we pay nothing, so we can't expect too much in return :)

Right after sending my other message I received this (I moderate a few
groups here and elsewhere):

As all too many of you experienced this week, a misconfiguration in one of our sets of MTA servers caused many messages this week to be delayed or to fail to post altogether.

The good news is that the problem should have been resolved this morning, July 8th, around 2 am Pacific Daylight time (9 am GMT).

But if you are still seeing problems with messages posted after that, you can report the issue here:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/members/contact/ygpostform1.html

Meanwhile, if messages posted before then still have not been delivered, you should assume that the message will not be delivered and repost.

Our apologies for the problems and inconvenience.

I've had Yahoo! delay messages up to 2 days.  If a few of people reading their Y! mail online mark messages from your ISP as SPAM, Y! starts assuming ALL mail from the ISP is spam.  They're not as bad as AOL in that they only delay main (AOL bounces it), but still a pain at times.

Our server uses greylisting for ISPs it hasn't seen before, but that only delays mail by a half hour or so.
