[Amateur-repairs] Test jigs for potentiometers, TO-220 devices?

 

Hi all

Has anybody ever built test jigs for either potentiometers or TO-220 semiconductor devices?

I have a bunch of old pots that need testing, as well as dozens (maybe hundreds) of LM-317 and 780x style voltage regulators. 

My biggest need is a way to swiftly connect devices in the jig.  Any hints?  My industrial electronics expertise is rather limited in the area of fixturing.  All devices are RFE and may have crapped-out leads, so a plain socket is out of the question.  It'll have to use clamps.

As far as the electronic "guts" of the testers, I can probably figure them out but I'm willing to discuss and I welcome suggestions.

[Simply Computers] Vive la differrence? re 'This is a test'

 

Well, at least I didn't flunk the test; the message probably appeared on the board before I could return to it. 
Now, what I'm wondering is: does the browser  one is using make a difference? For reasons I can't even remember right now, I've downloaded IE 10, and I think I did so sometime yesterday !! ;-).

[Electronics_101] RE: Help Needed: Audio oscillator test

Thanks everyone...several good suggestions there...I think I can make a sound decision on feedback now. I like the idea of the software to make an oscilloscope on the computer screen...I didn't even know there was a way to do that!

The best way is to hook it up to an oscilloscope and look at the wave form to make sure it is clean. But if you don't have one, you can fake one. 

Do a google search (or bing search, yahoo search, etc) and look for SOUNDCARD oscilloscope and download this :

Your can connect the speakers from your desktop pc to it.
